The success of society is linked to the well-being of all citizens. There is a need to remove barriers that prevent people from achieving their dreams with confidence and dignity. We must not resign ourselves to the fact that people living in poverty will always be poor. Social development means helping people so that they can progress on the path to self-sufficiency.
Societal problems are important but our association wanted to focus its action on 2 problems:
Early pregnancies
In Africa and Cape Verde many women have their first child before the age of 20 with enormous health risks. These pregnancies lead to dropout, precariousness, marginalization, perpetuation of the lower status of women and poverty. In 2016, 10% dropped out of school for this reason.
Our goal is to listen, to prevent, to inform, to try to change mentalities.
We set up training, prevention, information and awareness sessions in schools and in our centers in order to combat the problems of early pregnancy and sexual abuse.
Sexual abuse
Sexual assault in childhood or adulthood has consequences not only for those who are victims, but also for those around them and for society as a whole. Thus, sexual assault represents a public health problem that affects the entire population.
The consequences which can follow a sexual assault are multiple and can last throughout life and continue through the generations with harmful effects on health, education, employment, crime and economic condition individuals, but also their families, communities and societies.
